In my recent posts about my trip to the Similkameen and Okanagan Valleys I have focused on the wild flora and fauna but what these valleys are best known for is fruit production - apples, peaches, apricots, plums, pears and cherries. At this time of year the cherries were just ripening but these look good enough to eat right now. Over the last forty years there has also been a steady increase in the number of vineyards and
wineries in this area and as the wines produced here gain credibility, fruit orchards are being replaced by rows of grape vines.
